For sketch 2 we will be implementing motion recognition using Jitter. We will be using a camera that will take in the data and the modified data will be displayed on the projector. My team are thinking about making a children’s game that allows the kids to manipulate clouds with their hands. I have begun my research into how this would be possible and although there is a good amount of resource on the MAX MSP site, I found it pretty hard locating any other information on other websites who have incorporated camera interaction using Jitter. I found a website that showcases student projects that have been using Jitter as part of their Visual Performance courses:

On an Alexander Refsum’s page, he has made a really interesting patch using MAX MSP which analyzes both audio and video signals and converts them into a visual spectogram.

I also did some research on body movement and art just to be able to understand interaction better. I ran across this website that has some interesting examples of visual performance & body movement performance.

While conducting research I stumbled upon a site about Rutt Etra who managed to make a video synthesizer using MAX, the patch work is great and in a way shows how flexible MAX MSP is in terms of developing any form of interactive Media.

This week, I hope to have our idea finalized and begin work on the Jitter patch.
